Michael Ginsberg is a Doctor of Engineering Science candidate at Columbia University, specializing in solar energy grid integration and renewable hydrogen through PEM electrolysis. He is Vice President of Energy Transition at Bowman Consulting, leading the multi-disciplinary engineering firm’s work in renewable energy, microgrids and green hydrogen. Ginsberg is a solar energy specialist, buildings systems consultant and author with over a decade of experience performing technical analyses of renewable energy and building systems at domestic and international facilities.
He has lectured in Engineering Management at Brunel University, is a trainer for Urban Green Council on the 2020 NY and NYC Energy Code and consulted for Steven Winter Associates on commissioning and building electrification. Clients have included the US Department of State, Con Edison, and UC Berkeley on microgrids, solar energy design and training, heat pump performance measurement and verification, and energy benchmarking, among many other topics. Ginsberg's commercial experience includes designing, installing, commissioning and performing measurement and verification on commercial and industrial PV + storage systems from 20 kW to > 50 MW. He has guided firms seeking renewable energy credits and carbon allowances and has expertise in proton exchange membrane electrolyzer design and operation. He is a LEED AP O+M, CEM, NABCEP PV Installation Professional, and holds a MS in Sustainability Management from Columbia University.
