Dr. T. Emilia Motoasca

VITO , Mol, Belgium

Prof. dr. ir. Emilia Motoasca is member of the research group Energy & Automation (E&A) at KU Leuven Technology campus Ghent. Prior to this she obtained her PhD-degree from Delft University of Technology and worked until 2013 at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU / e), Faculty of Electrical Engineering. The research interests include numerical and analytical methods for electromagnetic field calculations in various applications, interaction of electromagnetic fields with biological material, electrodynamics of deformable materials and integrated design, optimization, control and (re) use of energy-efficient, reliable and cost-effective electric/hydraulic drive systems with applications in (bio) robotics, e-mobility (e-bikes, wheelchairs), manufacturing industry.

Design, analysis and optimization of renewable energy systems (solar PV, hybrid solar PV/thermal) in smart, sustainable systems together with application of thermo-electric materials for waste heat recovery systems in industrial and residential context (including solar energy harvesting) are among her more recent research activities within national and international projects.
