Dr. Claudia Buerhop-Lutz

HI ERN, Erlangen, Germany

Dr. Claudia Buerhop-Lutz studied material science at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany. This background knowledge about the performance and characteristics of different materials is unpayable for analyzing the performance of installed photovoltaic modules.
Since 2006 she works at the Bavarian Center for Applied Energy Research (ZAE Bayern) in Erlangen, Germany. Here, she is responsible for the thermographic inspections of PV-modules, especially PV-plants. 2008 ZAE Bayern was one of the pioneers who started using IR-thermography for outdoor analysis of PV-modules. The results of the first experiments are documented in the so called “IR-handbook” which is available free of charge in the internet and frequently downloaded. Since 2010 ZAE works with aerial drone-mounted IR-imaging systems. In July 2015 Claudia Buerhop organized the first workshop “aIR-PV-check” about thermographic inspections of PV-plants using AUVs.
