Dr. Cristina S. Polo López

Arch. Cristina S. Polo López is a researcher for the BIPV Swiss Competence Centre at the University of Applied
Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI).She holds a M.Sc in Architecture and Master’s degree in
Advanced Building Technology at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid UPM (Spain). Nowadays, she is performing her PhD studies on “Experimental testing method for the characterization of different BIPV technologies under real operating conditions”.
From 2009 until 2011, she was hired at the Research and Certification Institute for Sustainable Construction
IRcCOS, in Italy. She was involved in research activity for the CNR, National Research Council and Region Lombardy framework programme "New technologies and tools for energy efficiency and use of renewable sources in civil end-use". Previously, she worked as solar passive and energy efficiency consultant, in ABIOUPM research group, Bioclimatic Architecture in a Sustainable Environment, a multidisciplinary team of the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). In 2005, she participated, as part of the team representing Spain, to the international competition held in Washington DC "Solar Decathlon", sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy DOE, with the project "Magic Box". She has chartered Spanish Architects Registration COAM, since 1995 and worked as freelance architect for several years in Spain.
Mrs. Polo is author of different publication in the field of comfort and energy in buildings, and building integrated photovoltaic systems.
