4. 1 PV Module Design, Manufacture, Performance and Reliability
Summary / Abstract:
Photovoltaic (PV) modules performance testing and energy rating as described in IEC 61853-1 standard depends on electrical parameters of PV modules as a function of temperature. In this work, in order to precisely determine the effects of temperature on the electrical parameters of PV modules, the temperature controlled, xenon light based A+ A+ A+ Solar Simulator system was used. The temperature uniformity of this system is less than 2 0C over the 2mx2m area, which is almost two times better that the IEC 60891 standard requirements ( 2 0C). Totally eight PT-100 temperature sensors were attached to the back sides of PV modules under test and temperature inside the thermal chamber was set to be changed from 15 0C to 75 0C with 5 0C intervals. At each temperature level after the desired thermal stability was reached, then the module front surface area was irradiated by flash type simulator with irradiance from 100 W/m2 to 1000 W/m2 irradiance levels. After recording the electrical parameters (Isc, Voc, Pmax ) of PV modules the (T), (T) and (T) temperature coefficients corresponding to Isc, Voc, Pmax parameters were calculated .
