Session: 4AV.2 PV Module Characterisation, Testing and Outdoor Performance
Topic: 4. 1 PV Module Design, Manufacture, Performance and Reliability
Summary / Abstract: An outdoor testing setup was utilized to analyze performance of PV modules with different color encapsulant in a desert environment. Study results show an increase of 2.78% on the energy yield when utilizing the white encapsulant compared to the black encapsulant. The study was only over a period of February through March where temperatures are not extreme. Ongoing work includes analysing more data to see full effect of encapsulant color on annual energy yield as well as combining effects of both encapsulant color and glass thickness on energy yield.
