Summary / Abstract: In a current scenario of great concerns over global warming, an increasing focus is given to the decarbonization and decentralization of the electricity sector [1]. The increasing penetration of renewable energy, specically the distributed generation of solar energy in the residential sector, although challenging from a grid management perspective, supports the energy transition and leads to a need of simple and intuitive tools for a rst technical and economic assessment of residential photovoltaic (PV) systems to achieve an optimal sizing. The evolution of the user's load prole and electricity costs throughout the system's lifetime is also a major concern when designing a system, which cannot be considered in yearly simulations. The aim of this work is to provide a simple and generic framework to simulate the lifetime performance of a residential PV and battery storage system and assess important energy-related and nancial metrics under dierent scenarios.
