5. 3 Operation, Performance and Maintenance of PV Systems
Summary / Abstract:
In present work, we compare outdoor performance of bifacial and monofacial c-Si HJT modules with respect to bifacial and monofacial PERC modules installed in a dry and relatively hot climate. Performance is evaluated for different mounting configurations that include fixed south, east-west single axis and dual axis trackers, façade type mount and east-west vertical orientations (see Fig. 1). The HJT modules were manufactured at the Hevel, Russia  while commercial high efficiency PERC modules are used for comparison . For monofacial HJT modules the maximum gain over monofacial PERC modules reaches 3% in hot sunny days. An example of a daily performance for bifacial glass-glass modules is shown in Fig.2. For a fixed orientation, HJT gain over PERC bifacial modules amounts to 3%. At the same time, 2-axis tracker system enhances this value up to 6%. The observed HJT gain is attributed to lower temperature coefficient and higher bifaciality factor of HJT modules. The detailed data collected for different mount configurations over the period of over 18 months will be presented at the conference.
