4. 1 PV Module Design, Manufacture, Performance and Reliability
Summary / Abstract:
As the manufacturing, process and material technologies advance throughout the years, certain materialbased limits are being approached gradually for commercial c-Si PV modules. In this respect, analysis of the data collected from actual production becomes more and more important since it may reveal various paths for optimization of cost per watt not only based on device performance but also based on manufacturing performance. Based on this, in this study, we are analyzing the production data from our industrial c-Si PV module line to investigate the effects of manufacturing parameters such as work-shift and line used on module and factory performance parameters. Preliminary results reveal that minor differences exist while statistical analysis states this minor difference is of importance for one-month production. To increase the statistical significance and the variety of the population, six months of production data will be analyzed. Finally causes for statistically significant differences will be investigated for optimization of the commercial PV module manufacturing line and results of the applied changes will be presented.
