Summary / Abstract: Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) is a potential solution for zero emission buildings. Different aspects ranging from aesthetics, yield, safety, cost, etc. need to be further developed to meet the requirement from the market for further growth. Shingle module technology is a very good approach for BIPV application due to the advantage on both aesthetics and energy output. However, the reliability of the shingle modules is an issue making the PV industry hesitant. Here, the shingle modules fabricated with two different kinds of adhesives were investigated. The electroluminescence image and current-voltage measurement shows that all the modules passed 1000 thermal cycles from -40oC to+85oC without failure.
