Summary / Abstract: High voltage (HV) photovoltaic (PV) systems are affected by potential induced degradation (PID). PID decreases the output power of PV modules, however, it is a reversible process and could be recovered. Researchers demonstrated that the earlier PID is detected, the higher and faster the recovery. This work presents the experimental results comparing the PID recovery of PV modules under early and late PID detection. It was shown that complete recovery is possible if PID is detected at an early stage (< 1% power loss).ly recovered avoiding the replacement of the modules.
