Summary / Abstract:
Past issues and perspectives of Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) are investigated. A higher market share of BIPV could be reached through being cost competitive, achieving social awareness and acceptance through improving aesthetics and offering more application areas as a replacement for conventional building materials. Morpho-colour prints on inlayers, PV-roof-tiles and deep-textured module surfaces are considered to be promising technologies for a future market penetration of BIPV. Two awarded examples of BIPV projects in Europe are investigated in more detail.
