Summary / Abstract: Significant efforts including governmental programs to promote photovoltaics have been undertaken in Russia in the past few years. Hevel solar together with its R&D division – R&D Center TFTE, and downstream division – Avelar Solar Technology, is the first local large scale manufacturer of PV modules which acquired thin film micromorph technology by TEL Solar (former Oerlikon Solar). In order to verify reliability of the micromorph technology in natural environmental conditions the performance of the commercial a-Si/mc-Si micromorph modules was tested in six locations across Russia in the regions with higher insolation potentially suitable for solar energy generation. The modules were installed in various climatic conditions ranging from temperate to strongly continental with ambient temperatures from -47 to +40°C and operational temperatures in the range -20 to 60°C. Each remote monitoring system included one micromorph module, mounted with Module Mounting Interface by TEL solar, as well as a reference c-Si module based on IBC c-Si cells. The monitoring parameters including Pmpp, Impp, Vmpp, solar irradiation level, module and ambient temperatures were analyzed for the time period of 2013-2015.
