Description: The Emerging PV Reports Initiative is a collaboration between Advanced Energy Materials and the Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nuremberg for Renewable Energy, Germany. This initiative is aiming at supporting and ideally accelerating the development of emerging photovoltaic materials towards market readiness and at improving reproducibility and data quality.
Tracking the power conversion efficiency of current solar cell technologies is made possible through the NREL’s Best Research-Cell Efficiency Chart or through Martin Green’s Solar cell efficiency tables compiled biannually in our sister journal Progress in Photovoltaics (PiP). The Emerging PV Reports initiative is meant as an addition to these existing tables and is based on peer-reviewed publications on top-performing materials rather than on certificates.
The first article is already online, as well as the Emerging PV website and database, which are meant to be the driving platform for future iterations. Authors are invited to contribute to this database effort and upload their research data based on peer-reviewed publications. In order to guarantee highest data quality, outmost precision and best reliability, a series of criteria will be automatically verified when uploading data. A consortium of experienced academic researchers from more than 15 countries, all of whom are experts in new and emerging photovoltaic research directions, critically analyses the uploaded data.
Advanced Energy Materials serves as a platform for regularly publishing the contents of this database which will continuously be expanded to further exciting technologies, such as quantum-dot or tandem solar cell technologies.
